About The Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary
Covering a total area of 160 sq km, it is famous for Leopards. Jaisamand Sanctuary was established in the year 1957. The natural environs of the sanctuary harbors countless wild species including sloth bear, leopard, chital, chinkara, wild boar and a number of breeding birds like darter, open bill stork, pond heron, little cormorant and Indian shag. The lake is best place to view crocodiles and also a number of fish.

Location of Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary
Jaisamand Sanctuary, one of the most famous sanctuaries, is 50 kms south of Udaipur, the city of dawn which is around the azure water lakes and hemmed in by the lush hills of the Aravalis. The sanctuary extends over an area of 52 sq kms of thick forests land. It is situated on the bank of Jaisamand Lake, the second largest artificial Lake in Asia.

Jaisamand Wildlife SanctuaryA beautiful artificial lake constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1910 A.D. is a popular spot for outing and picnics. During monsoon, sprawling greenery all around makes it a visual treat. It is easily accessible by road from Alwar.

Wildlife in Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary :
The sanctuary harbors breeding birds like darter, open bill stork, pond heron, little cormorant and Indian shag. The leopard, hyena, jungle cat, fox and wolf are among the carnivores of the sanctuary. Other wildlife here includes sambar, chital, langur and chinkara. The Jaisamand lake is the abode of crocodiles, turtles and a variety of fish. Various species of terrestrial and water-birds can also be seen here.

The best time to visit the beautiful environs of the sanctuary is November to April . You can reach here via air, rail or road.
By Air -
Dabok Airport is 24 km from the city centre. Daily Indian Airlines flights connect Udaipur with Jodhpur, Jaipur, Aurangabad, Mumbai and Delhi.
By Rail -
Udaipur is directly linked by rail with major cities. Some important train connections are : 9643 Express (Udaipur Himatnagar) ; 9616 Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jaipur-Ajmer-Chittaurgarh-Udaipur).
By Road -
A wide network of bus services link Udaipur with several destinations. Some of the important distances are Agra 630 km, Ahmedabad 262 km, Jaipur 406 km, Jodhpur 275 km and Mount Abu 185 km.
